When I was in Vail hiking a few years ago in the summer, I visited several high end art galleries. There were several artists who managed to capture light very well. It almost seemed like their paintings glowed. I wanted to capture that glow. For this painting, I used a lot of texture and painted in pastel colors. On top of the pastels, I've brushed the painting with an opalescent paint mixture to give it that shimmery look. I also photographed the painting outside with the overcast sun coming in from the side so that the texture and the slight shadows would be captured to provide the depth. Enjoy!
